Evening Dining in the Valley

Lauren’s Restaurant, Lizzby’s, and The Redwood Drive-In have regular hours. The Buckhorn Pub’s winter hours are: Monday and Wednesday: 4pm open, 11pm bar; Thursday: 11am open, 11pm bar; Friday: 11am open, midnight bar; Saturday: 10am open, midnight bar; Sunday: 10am open, 11pm bar; Kitchen open until 9pm every night; Brunch served at weekends 10am-3pm; closed Tuesdays. The Boonville Hotel is open on Friday and Saturday evenings with family-style, prix fixe menu and Sunday Midday meal at 1pm. Reservations: 895-2210. Aquarelle is closed for the winter. Stone and Embers is closed January. In the Deep End, The Bewildered Pig will reopen on Thursday, January 25.

Public Service Announcements

#540. On Monday, Jan. 15 Lauren’s Restaurant pop-up dinner features Asian food, including local Mendocino Heritage Pork. from 6-9pm. No reservations.

#541. Reminder: The Valley’s big Crab Feeds are coming up! First is the Senior Center Crab Feed on Saturday, January 20 at The Apple Hall in Boonville. All you can eat crab! Margaritas available. Tickets $40 pre-sale at the Senior Center, AV Market, and Lemons Market. The Gloria Ross Original Crab Feed is at the same place two weeks later: Saturday, February 3. Also all you can eat crab, all the wine you can drink, and Margaritas for sale. $45 for 12 and older, $25 for kids 1-11. Tickets available from John Shultz 895-9552; Terry Rhoades 621-1153; and Javier 895-2778. Don’t delay, these events always sell out.

#542. The Vets from the Mendocino Animal Hospital visit the Valley tomorrow, January 11 at the AV Farm Supply north of Philo on Hwy 128. Again on January 25. New customers and their pets can call 462-8833 and the vets will bring your pet’s charts with them!

#546. The AV Grange is Second Sunday Pancake Breakfast is January 14 from 8:30-11am. Prices range from $5-10, kids through hungry folks, for a delicious, locally-sourced breakfast.

#547. The monthly meetings of the “Anderson Valley Village” group resume at Lauren’s Restaurant at 4pm on Sunday, January 14. Subject: “End-of Lives” preparation an important but often avoided topic. A positive and enlightened discussion among Valley folks on finances, health, and after death. Many of us could benefit from this. After all, “End-of-Life” happens to all of us at some point.

Here is the menu for the Community lunches over the next week in the Senior Center at the Veterans Building in Boonville. $6 donation requested from seniors and $7 for Non-seniors. Tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, the lunch, served by Marti Titus and her crew at Noon, will be Fish and Chips followed by Triple Lemon Dessert. Next Tuesday, January 16, the lunch features Cajun Chicken and Sausage with Chocolate Amaretto cake for dessert. All meals include vegetables, salad bar, and fruit, plus milk, coffee, tea, and lemonade. The best value for money all week! ALL ages are welcome!
