I am writing this in a sleep-deprived state of anger. The Valley is in uproar. Everybody is talking about it. I refer to the noise pollution produced by the fans used at various wineries to protect their vines against frost.

As I am sure nobody is aware, in two weeks, on these very pages, the 400th Turkey Vulture column will appear! Obviously there will be parades and celebrations throughout the western world, or at least the western end of Anderson Valley up at The Nest.
“The Turkey Vulture has landed,” as someone very famously once said. And I’m very pleasantly shocked to see how green everything is! When I left these shores a few short weeks ago all was brown and dry.

Sitting in The Black Eagle pub (founded in 1835) yesterday lunchtime, the waitress walked around the lounge with a plate in each hand inquiring who had ordered the two chip sandwiches.
...my trip to The UK...the extreme weather continues to be the major talking point...the winter/spring has seen the most rain in 250 years.
What better refuge from the elements than a pub?! As has been the case for centuries, the pubs are most welcoming, particularly those outside the trendy city center areas, those that provide a warm and cozy atmosphere somewhat representative of local people’s living rooms.
The Buckhorn, Boonville, is now operating as a full service restaurant and bar. Yes, the margaritas, martinis, and single malts are back in the Valley.
