You’re Either In The Barn…

If you didn’t have the opportunity to attend the Oktoberfest sponsored by the Anderson Valley Senior Center held at the “Barn” then you missed a fun evening of German food prepared by many dedicated volunteers who gave up their time and talents. German Brats, delicious German themed Sauerkraut, warm Potatoes and desert… Some of the lucky ones even got seconds!

The evening started off with local beers and wines or a bottle of pop — also donated for a good cause. Then while everyone was pairing up with friends and family for catch up conversations, the Beer Stein Competition was announced. Many folks brought their prized Steins just for a chance to win. The attendants were the judges. Hopefully you had a chance to sway the outcome prior to the votes. But if you didn’t, then you still received a prize, the most delicious German Chocolate Cupcakes.

All the proceeds that went for an excellent cause, the AV Senior Center — one of the bedrock organizations of the community run by Gina Pardini. The Center does a great job feeding Seniors during the week with home-cooked lunches and dinners with all the fixings. Just because it’s a Senior Center doesn’t mean the younger folks can’t come. All are welcome to come hungry and leave happy. Check the AVA for news, menus and other upcoming events.

The Senior Center’s other activities include Bingo every Second Tuesday following the dinner. They even offer Bus transportation for Seniors who need rides. Just call ahead. So much more community involvement too lengthy for this little article. So call the Center at 707/895-3609.

Finally, as a thank you for all those involved in the Oktoberfest I wish to list those who provided the night’s festivities, without them we’d all been home Watching Football.

Random order:

The door: Gini Pardini, Judith Kooyers

Cooks: Fal Allen, Matthew Ward

Bartender: W. Dan Houck

Lastly, None of this would have happened if not for the generous donation of the The Aardzrooni’s Vineyard Management facility, better known as the “Barn.”

Thank you again, everyone!
