The Greatest Paintings Of The World
The Cloverdale Arts Alliance invites you to attend the upcoming Discovering Art series, titled “The Greatest Paintings of the World”,
Our lecturer is Professor Kloss, an independent art historian and scholar who has taught courses on 17th and 18th century European art and 19th century French art. He also is an independent lecturer for the Smithsonian Institution, having presented hundreds of lectures around the world on subjects from ancient Greece to Impressionism. He is a serious scholar and an entertaining, witty, and passionate presenter of his immense knowledge of art history.
This class will feature 2 DVD lectures, with a lively and fun discussion after each DVD presentation. We will look at 2 to 3 paintings per DVD, so we can fully explore and discuss each.
Themes of Life and Death by Bruegel, El Greco, and Caravaggio -- plus Stories by Dutch artists, Ter Brugghen and Steen, and an allegory of the Queen of France by Peter Paul Rubens.
Attend all classes, or choose the ones which interest you the most. Discovering Art is meant for a wide audience, from those who are discovering art for the first time to those who have experienced art their entire lives, and realize it is a journey of constant discovery.
In order to reimburse the Cloverdale Arts Alliance for the expenses of administration and refreshments, a nominal donation ($3 per evening for CAA members and $5 for non-members) will be requested.
