AS OF AUGUST 6 at 7am the Lodge Wilderness fire is up to about 4,000 acres with still only 20% containment. Apparently the somewhat cooler temperatures and a bit of rain didn’t help much. Calfire says 43 structures are threatened. The firefighting effort is now up to 101 engines, 28 crews, 28 bulldozers, 14 helicopters, 27 water tenders and 1263 personnel. On Wednesday firefighters were “actively working to construct a fire line across the northern boundary of the fire." CalFire also announced that they would hold a community meeting Wednesday night (Aug 6) at 6pm at Harwood Memorial Park Hall at 44400 Willis Avenue in Laytonville. Exactly what CalFire planned to discuss wasn’t mentioned. But speculation had it that it probably would not be good news.
