Letters (Jan 21, 2015)

About 18 months ago, I was present in Ten Mile Courtroom when Judge Brennan presided in a sentencing hearing. The defendant was an older man who suffered from a mental disturbance and was on government disability. He had clearly experienced a hard life. He was a first-time offender for the crime at hand, and he had, as I recall, plead guilty to possessing internet pornography of underage females. This material had been found during a search of his home by a probation officer.

Mental Health Privatization has failed us. The for-profit Ortner rakes in millions of State and Federal Mental Health Patient money, and provides very few of the State-Mandated services. Four egregious violations are...

Growing up in a small community like Ukiah there was always one particular building that stood out to me: The Palace Hotel. Whether it be walking to Dig! Music to buy a CD or driving on State Street to get to work at The Dragon’s Lair, The Palace Hotel has always been in the corner of my eye.

I guess my first mistake was visiting California. I mean, who in their right mind would visit California? Maybe I wasn't in my right mind. I was listening to talk radio.

Letters (Dec 17, 2014)

Free To Live Or Die: That's my idea of a slogan for Hospice of Ukiah. I have been a Hospice of Ukiah client for seven years; first as I was about to die from two incurable cancers and then, when for reasons known only the Creator, I didn't.

Letters (Dec 10, 2014)

I'm writing today from my own little slice of hell, from the belly of the beast, from inside the walls of our so-called justice system. I'm about to enter my fourth year of confinement on a six-year sentence. I get to see and learn a lot of things in this environment, some unsavory and some are lessons that are priceless which will benefit me the rest of my life. So I'm writing to the people who might be able to relate to me and what I'm about to disclose.

Claudia Jimenez, the proprietor of ALL THAT GOOD STUFF in Boonville has informed me that she is considering resigning from the Anderson Valley Health Center Board of Directors because she is convinced that her participation on the Board is negatively impacting her business.
