Letters (Apr 20, 2016)

I find myself today flummoxed as to why Mendocino County CEO Carmel Angelo would look at Humboldt County when it comes to offering mental health services. Both Sonoma County and Marin County are closer and offer far superior services. Maybe it’s time for the CEO to step away and allow others to take the lead.

Re mountain lions and the like, the beasts of the field & forest have feasted on my chickens, so I got a dog from the Humane society. Since then, no foxes, coons, deers, possums, bears, skunks, hawks, ravens or mountain lions. All are still around. I hear the foxes shouting, watch the ravens & hawks aloft, circling me, waiting. Squirrels chew me out all day.

Letters (Apr 6, 2016)

I am opposing the City's plan to permit Segways to operate on city park trails, specifically Noyo Headlands trails. I delivered a letter with my objections to Linda Ruffing and Tom Varga on Wednesday. I urge you to join me in this opposition process.

Letters (Mar 30, 2016)

Recently, Ukiah Daily Journal reporter Justine Frederiksen wrote an article titled, “Does Ukiah need an upscale hotel downtown?” About like we need a hole in the head. Hampton Inn is owned by Hilton. Don’t you think their marketing people would have been here long ago if there was such a need?

A couple of things. First the frost fan issue. We are in the season now and I have seen many a new fan trailer enter the valley. They appear to have smaller props and let’s hope so. Major Scarmella’s law suit should do something. It is too bad our Supervisor totally fumbled the ball that was not even handled by the Rah-Rah Ag Commissioner.

Letters (Mar 16, 2016)

The Ukiah Senior Center is no fun any more.

Few men can retire at 50 years as I did, which has given me time to observe the changes in our area both between the genders, our local economy, our choices in entertainment and lately even our senior center.

Letters (Mar 9, 2016)

How ironic that your paper would cover that liar Tim Stoen who has now written a book claiming he was a victim of Jim Jones at the time.

Letters (Mar 2, 2016)

A lot of people without transportation (that’s all of us who depend on the Mendocino Transit Authority Bus system) can’t get too far on Sundays. I’m sure that some people who don’t have transportation would like to go out...go shopping, to the parks, to church, out to eat and just plain get out of their homes.

Letters (Feb 24, 2016)

The Supervisors' Meeting on the Kemper Report was disheartening when Supervisor Hamburg and Supervisor McCowen threw adult mental health patients and their families under the Ortner bus for the next many months.
