Covelo, California, Jul 7, 2010: The DEA flouted Mendocino County's newly enacted medical marijuana cultivation ordinance by raiding the first collective that had applied to the sheriff's cultivation permit program.
A multi-agency federal task force descended on the property of Joy Greenfield, 68, the first Mendo patient to pay the $1050 application fee under the ordinance, which allows collectives to grow up to 99 plants provided they comply with certain regulations. Ms Greenfield had applied in the name of her collective, “Light the Way,” which opened in San Diego earlier this year. Her property had passed a preliminary inspection by Mendo sheriff's deputies shortly before the raid, and she had bought the sheriff's “zip-ties” intended to designate her plants as legal. In the days before the raid, Ms Greenfield had seen a helicopter hovering over her property; she inquired with the sheriff, who told her the copter belonged to DEA and wasn't under his control.
The agents invaded her property with guns drawn, tore out the collective's 99 plants and took Ms Greenfield's computer and cash. Ms Greenfield was not at home during the raid, but spoke on the phone to the DEA agent in charge. When she told him that she was a legal grower under the sheriff's program, the agent replied “I don't care what the sheriff says.”
When she returned to her house she found it in disarray with soda cans strewn on the floor. “It was just a mess,” she said, “No one should be able to tear your house apart like that.”
Ms. Greenfield called the raid a “slap in the face of Mendocino's government.”
The DEA has been tight-lipped about the raid, but claims it was part of a larger investigation involving other suspects.
“Here Mendo is trying to step out in front by passing this ordinance, and what do the feds do but raid the first applicant,” commented Ms Greenfield's attorney, Bob Boyd of Ukiah. ” The DEA is stepping all over local authorities trying to tax and regulate.”
Neither Boyd nor other locals believe that the sheriff tipped off the DEA or gave them any information about permit applicants. Sheriff Allman has been highly supportive of efforts to bring local growers into the permit program. Nonetheless, observers fear that the raid will have a chilling effect.
“This raid is clear evidence that the DEA is out of control,” said California NORML director Dale Gieringer. “A change in federal law is long overdue. In the meantime, the DEA needs a new director who will enforce Attorney General Holder's pledge not to interfere in state medical marijuana laws.” The agency is currently directed by Michele Leonhart, a Bush holdover who has presided over numerous medical marijuana raids and has obstructed research efforts to develop marijuana for medicine. Obama has renominated her to head the agency — a move strongly opposed by drug reformers, who are calling on the administration to honor its pledge of change.
what is the out come of this raid.. i also heard her property was rented out. and that she did not live on it.. ?what is teh out come of this raid.. what grounds did they have to remove the plants and take her garden?
are the going to compensate her back the gross amount of plants earnings.. and produce the medicine needed for the patients.. wonder how they plan to make it good.. if the removed her crop .. from teh ground are the keeping her plants alive..

of bolonga…. they all work together in law enforcement.. talk about what they are gona do ahead of time etc.. allman was well aware of this copter.. and the scene
that they were about to commit.. by removing or raiding this medical crop.
nothing goes down in mendocino county without allman knowing first hand or about it..
he has his hands in everything.. he says he dosent like to talk and be the lime lite of people.. but this guy cant stay out of board of supervisor meeting , and quit talking to media every chance he gets. he is nothing but there chatting away.. also giving seminars , events etc.
allman is there first hand,, yet making no real effort..
in fact.. when zip tags were introduce to mendocino county board of directors
by sheriff allman.. he basicaly made you think he was the guy who invented the tags for plants.. that he infact created it. yet on this day. of presentation the rightful inventor of the zip tags was present at the board of supervisor meeting
calling allmans bluff.. stating he infact did not create zip tags.. it was introduced by her.. to sonoma county.. and her idea .. and that she might be wiling to sue
tom allman over it.. at the board of supervisor meeting this went on .. rofl.
he did not create the idea . he used her idea.. and mis lead people in believeing other wise.
this realy showed me .. what this man was about.. how he can minuplte , lie
and mislead people in to believing other wise..

they also say .. they break the law every day.. and they can because they are
police officers..
and they say it in front of your children.. who can be influnced in the wrong way
by them saying they break the law everyday..

once i was riding in a cop car. no emergency.. no hurry, no trouble..
and the police officer was driving in excess speed of 80 miles and hour.
i asked him why he was driving so fast.. he said because he could..
i asked him ot slow down.. he ws breaking the law the speed limit was 65
he was in excess of 80 miles per hour. with no emergency.

if a officer says he is the law. i wonder what it means.
the law is words. ordinaces passes on paper. rules , regulations etc.
that is a law.. in effect.
so how can a human being be a law.
he is a peace ….. officer…. up holding the law.. working for an ordiance.. or law that is passed..
he works for the people , beside the people , and up holds the laws that are passed.. so how can he be the law?

another thing to take into consideration is .. the growers .. are fighting legalizatoin as well.
they act like they are not . but the majority of them are.
if it is legal.. then they loose some legal tender.. a quite a bit .. to be honest.
so they wil vote against legalization.. im not saying all , but some will.
the real people whom are trying to legalize it are the people whom are trying to stop the money trafficing and the growers from making there profits…

because once it is legal . sales wil decline , profites wil decrease.
