To The Editor:
I am a personal friend of Caren Callahan’s and am writing regarding her candidacy for Superior Court Judge.
Caren did not follow the traditional path in becoming a lawyer. She began her career in law enforcement and is now part of the 1% of attorneys in the United States that were self taught. Caren is intelligent and tenacious.
Caren has a broad expertise in the area of law. She has successfully argued cases before state and appellate courts and has vast experience in the areas of estate planning, trust, probate, real estate, tax mediation and financial experience. Caren has the experience.
Caren has wide knowledge and respect for the law. As an advocate of mediation she has demonstrated the experience necessary to apply a practical fairness to those that come before her in the judicial process.
There seems to be some criticism regarding “trial experience.” As noted above, Caren has trial experience. However, I would comment further – Elena Kagan, President Obama’s nominee for Supreme Court Justice of the United States. She has been subject to similar criticism.
Caren is tough, ethical and fair. She will be a valuable addition to the Mendocino County bench and I would encourage the voters to elect Callahan on June 8th.
Sincerely,
Maureen Malley
