After a full day of testimony from Rogers and his ex-attorney, Judge Ron Brown denied Rogers' bid for a new trial Friday afternoon at Ukiah Superior Court.
Brown sentenced the former water district boss and Republican Committee Central Chairman to 25 years to life in prison for conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder. Rogers was found guilty last July after losing a strange, complex, totally circumstantial case built around an arrangement in which Rogers hired a former employee/ex-con to rough up a political enemy.
We'll have the full story of Rogers' sentencing next week.
