at The Cloverdale Arts Alliance on January 8
Cloverdale, CA*–Cloverdale Arts Alliance/THE Jazz Club
On Thursday, January 8, THE Jazz Club at the Cloverdale Arts Alliance is pleased to present the Latin and Caribbeaninspired Jazz band, Planet B. Planet B is the brainchild of Brett Palm, who plays bass and writes all the songs. Brett talks about his role as a composer, "I spent years in the Caribbean, where I developed a taste for calypso and reggae, and worked extensively with Costa Rican singer and guitarist Carlos Herrera, playing Latin/South American music... All of the influences from the past come through in the tunes now. You can hear it in the new CD. There is rock and swing and reggae and calypso and bossa in there. I enjoy putting together a well-crafted song, and then leaving room for the musicians to stretch out. And that's why I call it jazz--- the band takes the main idea of each tune, and then runs with it. I am blessed to work with musicians who not only can tear it up when called upon, but honestly strive to make each song work for what it is. The guys in Planet B are excellent team players. This is what Planet B is about..." The Cloverdale Arts Alliance is located at 204 N. Cloverdale Blvd. Tickets are $15 for Cloverdale Arts Alliance members and $20 for non-members. Doors open at 7:30 pm; music from 8:00 – 10:00 pm.
