The HazMobile household hazardous waste collection facility in Ukiah is now open an additional day every week, allowing public drop-off every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3200 Taylor Drive, Ukiah. Toxic waste that can’t go in the trash is accepted at the HazMobile including motor oil, paint, solvents, fuels, poisons, batteries and fluorescent light tubes. There is no charge for households for up to 15 gallons per day, and business waste is accepted for a fee. In additional to the Tuesday-Wednesday drop-off, the Ukiah facility is open on the 2nd Saturday of each month. The HazMobile takes to the road on Fridays and Saturdays to provide collection service on a rotating schedule of locations in Willits, Fort Bragg, Laytonville, Sea Ranch, Boonville, Point Arena, Covelo, Lakeport, Clearlake, Kelseyville, Middletown, Upper Lake and Lucerne. The HazMobile is a service of the Mendocino Solid Waste Management Authority, a joint powers agency of the County of Mendocino and cities of Ukiah, Fort Bragg and Willits. Service to Lake County is provided by agreement with the Lake County Public Services Department.
