Plein Air Festival

[Sep 17-23]

The Mendocino Art Center hosts the sixth annual Mendocino Open Paint Out, a plein air festival. The Mendocino Coast, located along a beautiful expanse of the Pacific Ocean in northern California, is a spectacular setting for a plein air festival. Artists claim that the quality of light is unlike anywhere else in the world.

The Mendocino Art Center is welcoming more than 60 oil, pastel and water media artists from throughout California, as well as visiting artists from Idaho, Illinois, Nevada and Oregon, who will be competing for more than $9,000 in cash and prizes.

Featured artists are MOPO co-founder John Hewitt, Wendy Brayton, Ellen Howard, Suzi Marquess Long, Will Maller and Dennis Simpson.

From the rugged surrounding landscape, to the bay and beaches, to the quaint Victorian architecture and water towers of the town of Mendocino, the artists are sure to find abundant creative inspiration.

The public is welcome at all activities (see a full schedule).
