Well, it’s a month into the school year and, as far as I can ascertain, the school is performing remarkably well both in the classroom and in their sporting endeavors. G.P.A.’s above 3.0 abound among the student athletes and the sports” teams are enjoying great success. The girls” volleyball team has just one loss while the boys soccer and football teams both have 100% winning records, and girls soccer, while having a mixed won/loss record, have come a long way since their two-girl first practice a month or so ago! Our small rural high school never ceases to amaze me. and thankfully it’s far more often than not for good reasons!

Panther Soccer (Sep 10, 2014)

The first home match of the year took place last Wednesday (Sep.3) when the Panthers hosted Middletown in a non-league game. This has been a fairly comfortable game for AV in recent times but, under a new head coach, the visitors were a different proposition this time and despite dominating the first half and creating several good chances, AV were held by the battling Middletown team to just one goal by half-time.

So it’s that time again. The County Fair comes to Boonville! Let’s start with some intriguing questions that were raised at the Three-Dot this past week with regard to this weekend’s activities. Will the attendance be an increase on the recent year’s disappointing numbers? Will the infamous “Large-breasted Boonville Flasher” once again expose herself to Sheriff Tom Allman as he rides in the Parade? Will the Varsity Football team put a “big hurt” on Mendocino in The Apple Bowl and the AV High School Soccer team hammer the Potter Valley Bearcats in the Apple Cup? Will there be any sheep wounded at the Sheep Dog Trial? Will Pickles the Clown scare any small children? Will any teenage girls run off with a Carny? (See Quiz below).
