Recently, the Ukiah Daily Journal reported that the four-year old Ukiah Valley Sanitation District lawsuit vs. the City of Ukiah finally settled for $7.5 million.
This sum is misleading. Why? Because the District previously received $9 million as a result of the lawsuit which means $16,000,000; and also because of changes arising out of a new operating agreement. The recovery for District over term of bond more than doubles that figure to $32 million.
I was shocked and extremely disappointed to read that the California Coastal Commission is apparently going to pay the fines and legal costs for Steve Kinsey and the other convicted Coastal Commission members.
When I moved to California from the East Coast almost 30 years ago, one of the first things I noticed was how trash-free the roads were. Now, I can’t drive a few yards without seeing trash along the side of the road. The Highway 101 exit to Highway 12 is an appalling local example.
The County’s much discussed and often lamented housing crisis is largely caused by local government’s inability to adapt to changes that are going on in Mendocino County. The housing element, adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2015, was intended to address the chronic shortages of affordable housing in the county and to provide a roadmap for how more housing could be built.
Regretfully, I compose this letter of resignation from the operating room at Mendocino Coast District Hospital. My reasons are numerous and I know you may have heard most of what I am about to state. I am a traveling operating room registered nurse and I am wrong if I don't report my concerns.
I stayed in a village of converted shipping containers for employees on the American Embassy compound in Afghanistan. Each container was a one-room bed/living room with a TV, a desk and an attached bathroom. Each had a window. Concrete walkways wound around them. While they all looked pretty much the same on the outside, some of the insides were elaborately decorated. Other containers served as offices. Surely a precedent for quick, cheap housing.
Does anybody really know what socialism is? It's when the government takes over everything, it runs your lives. That's what the liberal, anti-American, pig sucking left-wingers want. They're all about converting our country to socialism. Unbelievable.
