The wannabe scene is burning scam. The caribbean scene is more like reggae on the river or boomville world music fest. Calling slavery a scene is probably an indication of how many drugs this guy is on and not worth commenting on. As far as the racial/social breakdown I think its more like how its been expressed in Off the Record how people react to nudity on the SF Embarcadero on the way to the Giants game. Some giggle, some stare, some look away, and some say “Hey emmer effer come back this way and I’ll knock your ass clean off your roller skates.” Some people just don’t have time for the type of fatuous fantasy bullshit presented by BM, especially under the guise of do goodiness that it’s packaged in, and a do whatever you damn well please ethos. I prefer to stay a bit more firmly planted in the real world.

Who doesn’t like camping? Homeless people and rich people. Camping, as far I have seen, is the province of the middle class and involves a fair of bit expense, from specialized equipment to huge RVs with dish antennas on top, car and motorcycle attached bend. And that is called camping, yes. The boy scout pup tent? A thing of the deep dark pre-smartphone past.

Not everybody likes to camp. I spend time in Korea with the 3rd Infantry”camping” out. That took care of any notion of camping when I go on vacation or traveling.

I know two men who (deliberately) went camping in upper peninsula Michigan in January. Self-loathing is the only motivation I could think of for that.

My rancher neighbor was raised following his families sheep flocks from Central Washington to the Blackfoot Indian Reservation in Montana and back, for 20+ years. He said there were two things he would never do again: go camping or get on a horse.

Another thing I won’t do again is go out to the blazing desert, and to get close to a fire? Are you nuts? People must be terribly starved for entertainment.
