Bird’s Eye View (April 18, 2018)

The new restaurant, opening perhaps at the end of May (?) in Philo at the old Libby’s is expected to offer classic American fare. For additional dining info and more, the April issue of the AV Community Bulletin can be found at 21 locations throughout the Valley. 

Public Service Announcements

#543. This weekend’s Wildflower Show and Goat Fest at The Fairgrounds in Boonville, 10am-4pm each day iscovered elsewhere in this issue.

#544. The Vets from the Mendo Animal Hospital will be in the Valley next on Thursdays May 17 and 31 at the AV Farm Supply, 2-4pm.

#545. The AV Museum is open from 1-4pm every Saturday and Sunday in The Little Red Schoolhouse next to the Elementary School on AV Way. “The Best Little Museum in the West.”

#546. The Unity Club’s Lending Library is open at The Fairgrounds Tuesdays 1.30-4.30pm and Saturdays 2-4pm.

#547. The 22nd Boonville Beer Festival is coming right up on Saturday, April 28 at The Fairgrounds from 1-5pm.

#548. Care-a-Van, sponsored by the AV Animal Rescue, will be at The AV Grange on Sunday, April 29, from 10am-2pm to help with care for your dogs and cats. Vaccinations ($10-$13 each), heartworm tests, micro-chipping, etc. Spay and neuter operations are by appointment only. call 513-7604. This is a wonderful service.

Here is the menu for the Community lunches and dinners next week in the Senior Center at the Veterans Building in Boonville. $6 donation requested from seniors for both lunches and dinners and $7 for Non-seniors for lunches and $8 for the dinners. Tomorrow, Thursday, April 19, the lunch, served by Marti Titus and her crew at Noon, will be Chicken Diane followed by Strawberry Dream Squares. Next Tuesday, April 24, the evening meal at 6pm, features Rosemary Pork Roast with Pecan Bundt Cake for dessert. Second Tuesday, so, Bingo follows dinner at 7pm. All meals include vegetables, salad bar, and fruit, plus milk, coffee, tea, and lemonade. A great deal! On Thursdays the Center offers a Diabetes Workshop in English from 1-3pm and in Spanish from 5.30-7.30pm hosted by the AV Health Center, call 707-895-3477 to register. On Tuesday and Thursday at 9am the Center offers “Young at Heart Exercise” with Linda Boudoures. Thursdays at 9am is Water Color Painting Group, with Kathy’s Easy-stretch Yoga class at 11am. The Senior Center Community Bus goes to Santa Rosa on the first Wednesday of the month. Sign up early, 489-1175.
