#540. The Senior Center will not present their annual St Patrick’s Day dinner this year! What is the world coming to?!

#541. My fellow eating and drinking buddy, Steve Sparks, has launched the new version of the very popular and useful Grange Newsletter, the Valley information sheet that stopped publication a few years ago. Steve is working independently on this with the support of a local benefactor. 600 copies of the February 2018 issue of the free monthly ‘AV Community Bulletin’ will be distributed throughout the Valley at all the obvious spots. It includes useful details about the Valley’s social events, organizations, meetings, services, eateries, and general information. all in one place. To include your organization/meeting/event/etc, or to get a business card-sized ad, call Steve at the Bulletin’s dedicated number, 353-0369, or email avcbulletin@gmail.com by February 20 for the March issue.

#542. The Vets from the Mendocino Animal Hospital will visit the Valley Thursdays, February 8 and 22 at the Farm Supply north of Philo on Highway 128 from 2-4pm.

#543. The County Dump is open from 9am-4pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

#544. The Boonville Farmers’ Winter Market continues at Seabass Winery alongside the General Store in Boonville every Saturday morning, 9.30am-Noon. Cindy at 895-2949.

#545. The Bookmobile returns next Tuesday, February 6. Schedule at: mendocinocounty.org/home/showdocument?id=13548. They are here at: Navarro Store 9am (for 30 minutes before heading to Comptche); the Floodgate 12.30pm; Philo 1.30pm; Boonville (Apple Hall) 2.30pm.

#546. Live music at Lauren’s Restaurant on Saturday, February 10 at 9pm. ‘The Love Show’ with the always entertaining Ryan Davis and BoontFire!

The menu for the Community lunches next week in the Senior Center at the Veterans’ Building in Boonville ($6 donation from seniors; $7 for Non-seniors): Tomorrow, Thursday, January 1, the lunch, served by Marti Titus and her crew at Noon, will be Meatloaf and Mashed potatoes and gravy followed by Birthday Cupcakes. Next Tuesday, January 6, the lunch will Jarod's Clam Chowder with Lemon Lava Cake for dessert. Include vegetables, salad bar, and fruit, plus milk, coffee, tea, and lemonade. What a deal. On Thursdays the Center offers a Diabetes Workshop. English from 1-3pm and Spanish 5.30-7.30pm. Hosted by the Health Center. Call 707-895-3477 to register. Evening Dining in the Valley

Most of our local eateries will be back up and running apart from Aquarelle, which rumor has it will not be re-opening. Lauren’s Restaurant: Mexican Mon, 5-9pm; Lunch Thu-Sun, 11.30am-2.30pm; Dinner Tue-Sat, 5-9pm. Lizbby’s Mexican Cuisine: Mon-Sat 10am-9pm, serving breakfast on Sat / Closed Sun. The Buckhorn Pub’s hours are Mon & Wed: 4pm open, 11pm bar; Thur: 11am open, 11pm bar, with the Prime Rib Special; Fri: 11am open, midnight bar; Sat: 10am open, midnight bar; Sun: 10am open, 11pm bar / Kitchen open until 9pm every night / Brunch served at weekends 10am-3pm / Closed Tuesday. The Boonville Hotel is open on Friday and Saturday evenings serving their family-style, prix fixe menu and also Sunday lunchtimes for their Midday meal at 1pm. By reservation: 895-2210. The Redwood Drive-In & Gas Station: 6am-8pm everyday. Stone and Embers, at The Madrones south of Philo, is open from Noon to 8pm, Thursday thru’ Sunday. Down in the Deep End, The Bewildered Pig at The Floodgate is serving dinner Thu-Sun, 5-9pm, with last reservation at 8.30pm.
