Continuing Education Units

For the first time in its twenty-six year history, the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference, in cooperation with Dominican University, will offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to teachers at its 2015 event, August 6-8, at the Mendocino College Campus at College of the Redwoods in Fort Bragg.

Teachers may earn two or three CEUs: two CEUs for attendance at 20 hours of intensives, workshops, readings and talks; three CEUs for attendance, evaluation and creating a lesson plan based on writing craft skills discovered at the Conference.

Katherine Brown, English instructor at Mendocino College, is manager of the program. Interested teachers are invited to check out the conference at mcwc.org, and click on the CEU link at the bottom of the homepage.

Intensive morning workshops will be led by David Corbett, Master Class; Sheila Bender, creative nonfiction; Catherine Ryan Hyde, novel and young adult (YA) fiction; Indigo Moor, poetry; Lisa Locascio, short fiction; and Albert DeSilver, prose and poetry.

The mission of the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference is to offer a place where writers find encouragement, expertise and inspiration. This new CEU option encourages credentialed teachers to pass elements of creative writing craft forward to their own classrooms of young writers.

Registration opens March 15 at mcwc.org.
