Hear Ye, Mini-Makers: Maketh Thyself Faire

Calling All Makers & Do-It-Yourselfers for the 2nd Annual Mendocino County Mini Maker Faire

On Saturday, May 24th, from 10 am to 5 pm, the Mendocino County Museum will host the Second Annual Mendocino County Mini Maker Faire. As part of its commitment to community-wide access, admission to the Mendocino County Mini Maker Faire will be free of charge with Museum admission.

With booths, workshops, demonstrations and performances, the Mendocino County Mini Maker Faire features innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, technology, manufacturing, engineering, art, performance and craft in our county. Activities are designed to share what local industries, businesses and neighbors are making, inventing, creating, and learning.

We would like to invite all of our local makers to attend and showcase their inventions or offer a workshop or demonstration. Whether you work for a local manufacturing company or business that makes things, or on your own have installed a solar panel, crafted a quilt, created cheese from goat to label, used a 3D printer, engineered a mountain bike or decorated an art car, we want you to share what you have learned with our community.

To sign up, visit the event's website, www.MendocinoMakerFaire.com, and click on "MAKERS" to download an application. There is no charge for booths that exhibit or demonstrate; we’re excited and grateful to showcase people’s talents and inventions. There is a vendor fee for booths that sell items. Applications are due as soon as possible, and no later than May 9th.

Maker Faires, touted as the greatest show and tell on earth, are family-friendly showcases of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. Maker Faires take place all over the world, and the Mendocino County Museum is proud to be part of this international DIY (do-it-yourself) movement highlighting the creations and contributions of local makers.

The Mendocino County Mini Maker Faire is licensed by MAKE: Magazine, the original Maker of the Maker Faire movement, and happily coordinated with the Willits Annual Car Show and Community Festival, hosted by the Willits Chamber of Commerce, which takes place Sunday, May 25th at Recreation Grove Park. More information on the Mendocino County Mini Maker Faire is at www.MendocinoMakerFaire.com. The Mendocino County Museum is at 400 East Commercial Street in Willits and can be reached at 459-2736 or Info@MendocinoMuseum.org.
