The most "architecturally appropriate" buildings in the world aren't worth anything if they're abandoned. The Palace anyone? It's a fire trap, a dump, been abandoned for decades, simply because its considered historic. Well, trash heaps can be historic, but do you want them in the middle of your town? The fact that it might have been a wonderful place back in the day is irrelevant at this point. Having the County move out of the courthouse would just perpetuate that kind of accepted dilapidation.

Making sure the Courthouse remains in downtown is easily the most important thing for the City. Downtown Ukiah is nothing without the courthouse. Get rid of the empty piles of bricks and don't make any more.

Btw, frenchie, some people like updated architecture.

Putting the courthouse downtown will be a historic disaster. The State does not build architecturally appropriate buildings. Look at Eureka, Santa Rosa, and even buildings in San Francisco.

Ugly concrete block structures that will destroy the last remaining feeling if downtown being historic. Big mistake.
